About the position
We are looking for a skilled and experienced System Administrator to manage and maintain our IT infrastructure and ensure the reliability of CHOICE’s technology platforms and deliver timely support to our 156 staff.
Working closely with the IT Manager and two colleagues you will take the lead on critical infrastructure change projects across our systems and platforms as well as provide 2nd and 3rd level IT support.
- Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software
- Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner
- Ensure data backup and recovery processes are in place and effective
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement security measures and protect against unauthorised access
- Assist in the planning and implementation of IT projects and upgrades
- Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues
About you
You are a degree or vocationally qualified System Administrator with knowledge across network, security, database and server disciplines. You enjoy working in medium sized organisations offering a variety of technical challenges and close working relationships with colleagues.
You expect and enjoy being thrown in the deep end and pride yourself on getting up to speed quickly and making an impact both technically and relationally.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with networking protocols and security measures
- Industry certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, or CompTIA Security+
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
You are proactive in identifying and prioritising work and don’t mind turning your hand from basic software admin tasks to optimising network infrastructure including patching, switching, firewalls and routing functionality.
