Title: ION MarketView Platform Specialist (12 months Fixed Term)
Location: Sydney

The team delivers innovative product & solutions across fixed income, foreign exchange, money markets and commodities, as well as specialist research and risk management expertise. The business operates in all major financial hubs including London, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, and Auckland.
Markets Technology is the technology partner to the Markets business and is responsible for all applications used by the business front to back. Our primary stakeholders are trading, sales, and operations. We are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, and Bengaluru with smaller support focussed teams in the other key business hubs.
We are looking for a hands-on ION MarketView Platform Specialist to join our Fixed Income eTrade team in Sydney. The team consists of about 25 electronic trading specialists and Java developers that are distributed across Sydney, Singapore, and Bengaluru. They are responsible for pricing and electronic trading on D2C and D2D markets, for the Rates and Credit businesses.
What will your day look like
- Hands-on configuration, integration and testing of ION eTrading components.
- Platform re-engineering to provide a stable and maintainable platform for the business.
- Direct engagement with business stakeholders in Trading, Sales and eFICC teams.
- Implement changes and upgrades to the ION MarketView pricing and eTrading platform.
- Coordinate & organise changes with external vendors, markets, ECNs, and infrastructure teams.
- ION topology tuning to create and maintain a high-performance platform.
- Writing documentation, user guides, regular demos
- Performing user acceptance testing with various groups during project go-live.
- Ability to run projects end to end without monitoring.

- Good understanding of fixed income products such as bonds and swaps pricing as well as yield curve construction
- Hands on experience with bonds and swaps electronic trading, including platforms like Bloomberg, Tradeweb and YieldBroker.
- Strong hands-on experience of ION MarketView. Detailed knowledge of MMI .NET, D2C & D2D Connectivity Gateways, TOMS, PXE, REFDATA, VMQ, Run List Manager
- Experience of platform re-engineering, tuning and ION failover setup.
- Ability to effectively interact closely with business stakeholders, including traders and quants.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in a complex trading environment including pricing and trade capture issues.
- Strong Linux experience including Shell Scripting and python Scripting.
- Constantly challenging and seeking ways to improve platform consistency and maintainability.
- Automate and build tools to industrialize management of a world class e-trading platform.
Other good to have knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Development of Fixed Income electronic trading systems, ideally in Java.
- Building high throughput low latency java software including performance tuning and optimisation to achieve microsecond latencies.
- A self-starter that enjoys a challenge and working in an agile environment.
- Agile mindset and a strong desire to deliver on the mission and goals of the business.
- Experience of working across multiple time zones and locations
- Value feedback as a way for you and the squad members to grow and learn.
