Systems Infrastructure Specialist -12 months contract --- Fully Remote position Your new company
We are currently recruiting for a Systems Infrastructure Specialist- a fully remote position for one of our well-known clients.
Your new role
The role will support the Technology Manager in ensuring services on the infrastructure platforms are reliable, secure, and performing effectively and efficiently. Furthermore, the role is instrumental in reducing existing technical debt, challenging the status-quo, and continually improving the day-to-day operations of IT.
This role is pivotal to ensuring that the Technology Team can assist other IT-based teams, projects, and the business in the delivery and management of services on public Cloud and on-premises infrastructure platforms through design, orchestration, and automation.

• Responsible for the design and implementation of cloud and on-premises infrastructure-based services ensuring these platforms and applications meet business objectives and adhere to service level agreements (SLA)
• Review and identify ways to improve performance and stability of services and applications running via cloud and on-premises platforms through continuous improvement and automation
• Accountable for the reliability and security of cloud and on-premises infrastructure services
• Collaborate with functional and technical staff to develop deployment strategies for existing and new solutions

• Work closely with Strategy and Architecture to ensure that infrastructure-based solutions are aligned with organisation goals.
• Act as an ambassador for public and on-premises infrastructure platforms for the promotion of continuous improvement through the design, delivery, and visibility of services
• Provide on-premises visibility of performance, cost, and the security of on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure platforms
• Drive continuous improvement, continuous delivery, and lean practices within the Hosting Technology team
• Developing standards and best practices for use across IT and business and ensuring the implementation of these standards
• Identifying emerging technology solutions that reduce cost, increase efficiencies, enhance capabilities, reduce risk and improve security.

What you'll need to succeed

• Extensive experience with on-premises and cloud-based architectures and platforms; including Azure, AWS, virtual (VMware) and physical servers, file storage (NetApp), and backup and restore technology
• Significant experience with the creation, deployment of services on VMware, Azure, and/or AWS through continuous integration ("CI"), continuous deployment ("CD") technologies like terraform and bitbucket pipelines
• Experience of cloud commercial models and lead workshops to drive business outcomes whilst developing and designing technical solutions
• Experience working in a flexible environment using ITIL and/or agile methodologies.
• Ability to automate the monitoring and alerting of cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions through hybrid cloud-based toolsets (e.g: Prometheus and Ansible)
• Automating infrastructure-based solutions on platforms through templating and patterns (e.g: terraform, bitbucket pipelines)
• Very strong core infrastructure skills in Microsoft RDS, DNS, dhcp, ntp, proxies, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems
