Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

KWHB's vision acknowledges the distinct and diverse identity of their people and communities, ensuring member communities are involved in the planning, development and implementation of their health programs. Katherine West Health Board(KWHB) is currently looking for a Tackling Indigenous Smoking Health Promotion Officer to join their team for an opportunity in the Big Rivers region in the NT. This position is well suited to someone who has relevant experience in public health, Health Promotion, adult education, community development, population health or a related field.

The Health Promotion Officer(TIS HPO) will help develop and deliver resources that promote positive health and wellbeing and increase health literacy throughout the Big Rivers region. The TIS HPO role will have a strong emphasis on the delivery of positive Health Promotion messages directly related to preventing the uptake of smoking and supporting smoking cessation.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Support the Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program and work alongside stakeholders in the Big Rivers region.
  • Help to organise community events.
  • Undertake regular travel to remote communities in the Big Rivers region.
  • Deliver positive Health Promotion messages.

In return for your hard work and dedication, the successful candidates will enjoy an attractive remuneration AO3 - AO4 $66,941 – $86,995 (negotiable based on your skills and experience) PLUS super and a range of benefits, including:
