Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health & Community Services is Canberra’s only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Located in the heart of Canberra, we provide trusted holistic healthcare to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the ACT and surrounding areas.
About the Role:.
Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) is a crucial program aimed at reducing smoking rates and its associated harms among Indigenous peoples. We believe in a culturally sensitive approach, respecting traditions and values while advocating for healthier lifestyles. As a TIS Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts to reduce smoking rates within Indigenous communities. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone eager to start their career in public health and community services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and delivering community-based activities to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking.
• Provide support and information to individuals and groups about quitting smoking.
• Work closely with the TIS team to develop culturally appropriate resources and programs.
• Engage with community members to promote healthy lifestyles and tobacco-free living.
