We design the critical security solutions of tomorrow by combining the curiosity to explore, the intelligence to question and the vision to create. Together we solve complicated problems by combining our experience in the market with our leading research and development capabilities.
An exciting opportunity for a Tactical Buyer to join our Above Water Systems (AWS) Business at Garden Island. You will be responsible for delivering an optimal customer service rate by enhancing the reliability of every step in the product/supplier procurement process in warehouses, in order to contribute to the company’s financial performance.
The Tactical Buyer will play a key role in how Thales provides value to customers and you will actively contribute to Thales’ ability to meet the service levels expected by internal and external customers, to ensure the timely delivery of goods or services to the business. • Apply the Thales purchasing strategy and use the enterprise resource planning system and other purchasing information systems, as well as contracts, terms and conditions from category buyers.
  • Assume end-to-end ownership of every order placed, including tracking timely deliveries of ordered products and services, expediting late deliveries, resolving billing errors, and updating update information in information systems.
  • Verify that the purchase requisition data (supplier approval status, part number, export control status) is correct.
  • Obtain Purchase Order Acknowledgements and export control documents from the suppliers and attach them to the orders.
  • Work with the relevant area on the trade control documents including the processing of the Commodity Export Classification Certificates (CECCs) and End User Undertakings
  • Handle exceptions (advance, cancelled and deferred purchase orders).
  • Manage shortages, delays and returns proactively as soon as they are identified (through reviews of WIP, orders or projections).
  • Ensure that order-related dates are kept up to date in the ERP (e.g. during portfolio reviews), in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Make proposals for improving the procurement strategy, keeping the right balance between inventory levels and the punctuality of deliveries of expected goods or services.
How about you;
  • Excellent professional spoken, written and presentation skills
  • Advanced use of office applications (Excel) and ERP purchasing tools (materials management).
  • Ability to anticipate, be proactive and generate added value.

  • Act in accordance with Thales ethical rules and values in all circumstances.
  • Develop and expand internal and supplier relationships (support, escalation, etc.).
  • Professional use of commercial contracts and general terms and conditions.
  • Wide understanding of order management processes.
