AddressTAFE SA is South Australia’s public provider of vocational education and training (VET) and higher education, with a critical role of delivering training and skills aligned to the state’s workforce needs. TAFE SA delivers job-focused training across a range of industries from entry-level certificates to bachelor degrees, at locations across the state.
TAFE SA is a statutory corporation established under the TAFE SA Act 2012 and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Directors are accountable to the Minister for Education, Training and Skills for overseeing the governance of the corporation and continued improvements in performance. In 2023, TAFE SA launched an ambitious and transformative ten-year Strategic Plan 2023-2033 (Strategic Plan (tafesa.edu.au) in response to the Roadmap for the Future of TAFE SA.
The Minister for Education, Training and Skills is now seeking expressions of interest from individuals wishing to join the TAFE SA Board. In particular, expressions of interest are sought from candidates with an understanding of TAFE SA and the VET sector and with the ability to add value and contribute to Board decision-making and oversight. Candidates will need to demonstrate high levels of professional ethics and integrity, independent judgement, sound business acumen and a genuine interest in TAFE SA’s organisation and business. The ability to work collaboratively, exhibit high level interpersonal skills, as well as presentation and persuasion abilities will also be crucial.
Candidates need to demonstrate in-depth experience and knowledge of at least one or more of the following areas:
- Legislative/business expertise
- Quality and compliance regulatory requirements in the tertiary education sector
- HR, change management and cultural change
- Statutory corporation board experience
- Emerging industries e.g. defence or digitalisation

The successful applicant is required to have or gain a Department of Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed, which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. A current DHS child-related employment screening check will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires.
