Excellent opportunity for an experienced Tax & Accounting Manager with medium sized accounting practice in Mascot. Potential Associate Partner / Partner Progression.

New Wealth is a boutique firm with a comprehensive range of services that encompass everything from Financial Planning, Superannuation, Insurance, Taxation and Accounting essentials right through to Investment and Lending.

We are looking for an experienced Accounting and Taxation Manager to lead and manage multiple operations of the Accounting and Tax practice area and to deliver quality accounting and tax services that will increase the firm’s productivity and reputation. 

You will serve as a business advisor to our clients aiming at maximizing engagement and achieving qualitative outcomes. You will also be responsible for managing a team of accounting staff and managing the lodgement program to ensure the firm meets and exceeds the expectation of the Australian Taxation Office lodgement program.

Responsibilities 

  • Preparation and supervision of staff in respect to financial reports and/or income tax returns for a broad range of individuals (including HNW), companies, partnerships, NFP's, trusts, and superannuation funds.
  • Management of annual/periodic statutory return obligations including FBT, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Worker's Compensation and ASIC requirements.
  • Report directly to the Principal assisting in the provision of client advice on a range of matters (income tax, GST, FBT, accounting and director/shareholder) and small audit engagements.
  • Supervision and review of staff workpapers and financial statements preparation.
  • Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department
  • Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within time frame
  • Build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
  • Provide innovative tax planning and review complex accounting situations, income tax returns and financial statements
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks
  • Coordinate accounting staff and assess their performance
  • Manage tax provisions and tax compliance processes
  • Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits
  • Drive and manage the lodgement program 
  • Meet on time lodgement objectives 

Requirements 

  • Minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience across all facets of accounting, Tax and business advisory in Public Practice in Australia.
  • Strong technical skills, particularly Australian Taxation law including small business CGT concessions, Division 7A, UPE's, FBT, GST, closely held trusts, business restructuring, international tax issues and deceased estates.
  • A "hands-on" style with the communications skills (written and verbal) to engage and support direct client contact.
  • Ability to take responsibility for a group of clients and manage their requirements with a minimum of supervision, to delegate tasks and mentor staff.
  • Integrity, an attention to detail and ability to work within timeframes and budgets.
  • Familiarity with MYOB, Xero, Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Experience with MYOB Accountants Office, general ledger and online work paper preferred but not essential
  • Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager
  • Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns
  • Good at meeting deadlines and solving problems
  • Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills
  • Ability to manage a team of accounting staff, drive performance and increase productivity 
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and Accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Ability to direct and supervise
