The
Tax Specialist is responsible for conducting complete tax interviews and for preparing tax returns so clients pay the least possible tax as prescribed by tax law, and are in accordance with the information supplied by the client. The
Tax Specialist accepts returns for electronic transmission, verifying that each return is free from Validation Errors and in transmittable form. The
Tax Specialist is also responsible for ensuring all client communications, notes and workings are filed in the Company's document management system. The
Tax Specialist is responsible for accurately determining the fee for services provided and that the fees are in accordance with the Company’s schedule of charges and policies. The
Tax Specialist is responsible for collection of fees in the first instance either by EFTPOS facilities, electronic payment facilities or cash. Records of all collections and any cash are to be submitted for reconciliation and inclusion in the accounting records. Additionally, the Tax Consultant answers tax questions and implements H&R Block client service and public relations programs, as well as office procedures and reporting systems, as prescribed by the Principal. The
Tax Specialist is also expected to support to the Company's annual training program by assisting the Manager in the conduct of the Foundations Level of the Income Tax Course either as a workshop leader, instructor or student support.
The minimum level of complexity of tax returns to handled by a Tax Specialist is:
• PAYG Income Earner
• PSI Income Earner
• Basic Rental
• Basic Capital Gains
• Cryptocurrency Transactions
• Small Business Tax Returns
• Business Activity Statements.
Previous experience required:
• Complete the current H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Sound attention to detail
• Sound computer literacy, i.e., ability to navigate around a computer and access email,
Internet programs
• Good communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Willingness to learn
• High attention to detail
• Business-like personal presentation
• Xero experience
• Intermediate Microsoft suite experience especially with Excel
Applicant should be well spoken, well presented with excellent communication and people skills and the ability to adapt to working autonomously and as part of the wider team.
Proficiency in the use of XERO for Tax Return preparation is preferred, although training will be provided.
