We have three (3) exciting opportunities to join a high performing teaching team in the role of TAFE Teacher – AMEP (Adult Migrant English Program).
We are looking for people with current industry experience, knowledge and qualifications in English Language to join our teaching team.
These positions will be offered on a temporary full-time basis for 6 months, unless otherwise determined.
These positions reports to the Educational Team Leader and is based at TAFE Queensland’s Toowoomba Campus, however the appointed candidates may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses or worksites, and travel associated with delivery will be compensated.
You will be able to contribute to developing and delivering quality learning, teaching, and assessment to a wide range of clients through:
- Outcome focused vocational education and training (VET) programs;
- Linking with industry, schools, universities, community, other TAFE and VET providers;
- Maintaining currency with industry practices, workplace delivery and contemporary teaching methodologies and philosophies; and
- Working in an environment of ongoing change and continuous improvement.
Salary
The salary range for a full-time TAFE Teacher is $86,564 - $113,971 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must possess relevant formal vocational qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree of at least three years’ duration awarded by an Australian university or tertiary institution, or its onshore or overseas equivalent; and
- A recognised specialist post graduate TESOL qualification (with supervised teaching practicum of 60 hours with a minimum of 25 hours supervised teaching); and
- At least 100 hours teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or Adult Literacy/Numeracy in the last three years;
- Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
- Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided; and
- Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.
Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (or TAELLN401A) and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools (or TAESS502A or TAEASS502B); or
- TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
- TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
- TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
- TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or its successor; or
- A higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).
Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.
Highly Desirable
Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:
- Experience in teaching adults.
