Job description

Atwell College is seeking a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join our innovative team. The successful applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to promoting and fostering high levels of student engagement and academic and personal achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. This position has a focus on Woodwork and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). We are looking for an exceptional teacher to support our Design and Technology programme, and as such we value your ability to establish outstanding relationships with staff, students and the wider community.
Atwell College is a modern and progressive government secondary school in the suburb of Atwell, south of the Perth metropolitan area. The College has grown with the area and now accommodates approximately 1000 students from within the Atwell College intake area. Out combined purpose is to provide every student the opportunity to maximise their learning, achieve their potential and transition into a meaningful post school pathway in a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.

The suitable applicant will support and contribute to the implementation of Atwell College’s Business Plan, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence-based approach to pedagogy. Aligned with the Strategic Improvement Plan, applicants will have strong knowledge and experience of high impact teaching and learning strategies within the context of a positive learning environment. They will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and have the capacity to teach across all years to ensure students achieve strong academic and personal growth.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education
requirements; * complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
