East Kalgoorlie Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Teacher - Early Childhood Education.

About the role

East Kalgoorlie PS is looking for exceptional teachers with the skills to teach Primary students in a diverse educational setting, meeting the needs of students within a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will provide an integrated and culturally responsive program to meet the needs of our predominantly Aboriginal student population.

The successful applicant will ideally have an understanding of Explicit Instruction. Knowledge of The Writing Revolution, Let's Decode & Spelling Mastery is highly regarded. However, training will be provided for those requiring it. The successful applicant will also ideally be flexible, energetic, and be able to work collaboratively within their phase. We are seeking teachers who have outstanding interpersonal skills with a natural ability to communicate effectively and build genuine relationships with parents, students, and staff members. The successful applicant would quickly establish a positive and welcoming classroom environment with high expectations, and a growth mindset, while building students' positive social and emotional skills.

The successful applicant will ideally possess exemplary teaching skills, be highly motivated and hold themselves accountable to delivering best practice. You should have the ability to work in an environment characterised by whole school approaches, low variance teaching, collaborative team structures and a strong commitment to professional growth. The successful applicant would be able to work collaboratively and participate in coaching, self-reflection and peer observation as part of the whole school improvement cycle.

An understanding of differentiation to meet the needs of all students is essential, as is the ability to use a variety of assessment tools to inform progress, enable constructive feedback and drive future planning

Our school

East Kalgoorlie PS is a family focused K-6 school located on the eastern fringe of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Our students are from all over the city, 94% of whom are Aboriginal. We have a strong emphasis on the early years of schooling with services for every student and are uniquely placed to offer a highly supportive and nurturing environment. East Kalgoorlie PS is on an improvement cycle that involves whole school approaches and also recognises the need for clear planning and assessment.

East Kalgoorlie Primary School is a Quality Teaching Strategies (QTS) lead school therefore supports other schools in various areas including, but not limited to, Science of Learning, Literacy, multi-tiered systems of support and Two-Way Science.

The location and community

Located in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, Kalgoorlie Boulder is situated 590 kilometres inland of Perth. The name Kalgoorlie is derived from the Wangai word Karlkurla, meaning "Place of the silky pears".

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy.
