 Positions

Piara Waters Senior High School (SHS) is seeking two (2) committed, competent, and enthusiastic Health and Physical Education Teachers to join their friendly team.

We currently have the following positions available:

Two (2) x - permanent full-time position/s

All positions will commence Term 1, 2025

Suitable applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum and proven ability to teach across Years 7 to 12. You should promote active learning and provide engaging learning activities which facilitate students at all levels achieving their potential.

We are looking for dynamic, adaptable and collaborative individuals who are committed to working effectively as part of a team. The successful applicants will ideally be improvement focused, participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on their own teaching practice to enhance student engagement and achievement outcomes.

Applicants who possess excellent interpersonal skills, who are relationship focussed, are flexible and adaptabile and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning are encouraged to apply.

You should be innovative, knowledgeable and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area and be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice.  As a new and growing school, the flexibility to teach outside of learning area is desirable and the attributes of flexibility and adaptability are valued.  You should be able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment, underpinning our core value of respect.

Piara Waters SHS is situated in the beautifully landscaped suburb of Piara Waters, approximately 25kms south of Perth. The school is surrounded by luscious greenery and will form part of the vibrant, multicultural community of Piara Waters. Piara Waters SHS commenced with Year 7 students in 2023, and will add each year to its growing cohort, until it reaches Year 12 in 2028.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
