The Department is offering visa sponsorship and relocation support to eligible teachers from the UK, Republic of Ireland, Canada and South Africa. Further information can be found here.

Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and proactive Inclusion and Education Support Teacher to join our team.

We are seeking staff who have a passion for secondary education and the desire to impart their skills and knowledge across our college.

The Education Support Program (ESP) enrols students who have moderate to severe intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with higher educational needs, students with complex physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and high medical needs.

The Byford ESP has a range of state of the art, purpose-built facilities including access to a hydrotherapy pool. Teachers provide differentiated, individualised learning programs that are linked to students’ Individual Educational Plans and access the Western Australian Curriculum and Abilities Based Learning Education (ABLEWA) tools and resources.

The curriculum delivery focuses on developing functional literacy and numeracy, communication, social and emotional skills among our students. There is a strong sense of developing individuals, so they can achieve success upon the completion of their schooling.

The successful applicant should be committed to excellence in teaching and possess strong classroom and behaviour management skills. Teachers in an Education Support environment will work collaboratively and proactively in the Education Support Team and positively manage a team of education assistants within their classroom.

Applicants with a sound understanding or experience using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices including Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD), Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related Handicapped Children (TEACCH) and knowledge of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and protective behaviours, are encouraged to apply. Experience and awareness of Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) modules, Workplace Learning, Enterprise Learning, Person Centred Planning, Vocation Education Training (VET) and Certificate Courses would be highly desirable.

The successful applicant should support the implementation of the college business plan, to work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence-based approach to teaching.

The learning environment that you create should be caring, differentiated, challenging and to cater for the needs which will see all students learning and progressing. As Teacher of Inclusion and Education Support, your ability and willingness to collaborate with other teaching staff who support Special Educational Needs (SEN) students accessing The Australian Curriculum will be encouraged.
