As a TAFE Teacher you will have the opportunity to impart your extensive industry knowledge and experience to students using a variety of delivery methods including in the classroom, online, and workplace. The Role

We have an exciting temporary full-time position available to join our Educational Delivery team in the English Language and Foundation Studies faculty at TAFE Queensland’s Cairns Campus.

As a TAFE Teacher in Literacy, Language and Numeracy, you have the opportunity to influence the careers of future industry persons by sharing your extensive industry knowledge to students in a classroom or other educational setting.

This position reports to the Educational Team Leader and Business Manager.

Salary

The salary range for a TAFE Teacher is $86,564 - $113,971 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must possess an Undergraduate degree of at least three years duration awarded by an Australian university or tertiary institution, or its onshore or overseas equivalent (recognised in Australia), and the following:

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor; or 
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or 
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; plus: TAELLN411 or its successor or
    • TAELLN401A; and 
    • TAEASS502 or its successor or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B; or 
  • A credential issued by a higher education provider which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher and one (1) of the following credentials: TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor, orTAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor; or 
    • TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set; or 
    • A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education 

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Highly Desirable

 Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • Post graduate TESOL qualification in adult education or equivalent (recognised in Australia).
