About the position:
The position of Teaching and Learning Teacher Assistant – Literacy and Numeracy will report to our Head of Learning Enrichment, Junior School, and ultimately the Head of Junior School.
The purpose of the position is to support and collaborate with Junior School classroom teachers in addressing the learning needs of students from Preparatory to Year 6.
This position is ideally suited to suitably qualified career Teacher Assistants, however, applications will be considered from suitably qualified teachers, who are passionate about the unique role that a Teacher Assistant plays in the success of the student and the classroom teacher.
The position is Term time only, 4 days per week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday - from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
About you:
We are seeking someone who is passionate about their personal Christian faith, understands the purpose of Christian Education and able to support the Mission of NCC – someone who is committed to seeing children develop, learn and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to the minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, and Certificate 4 in School Based Education Support, demonstrating a knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities is required. The capability to deliver both intervention and remedial support, and experience working with students of varying ages, and adjusting your approach accordingly is essential. The capacity to maintain a consistent and high level of empathy, care and patience is mandatory.
With the specific focus on LITERACY AND NUMERACY, there is an expectation that the candidate will also have a working knowledge of the QLD Curriculum. In addition, being familiar with MacqLit, MinLit and MultiLit, as well as mathematic interventions appropriate to age will be highly regarded.
