Appointment Pool

Hilton Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

‘Kaya, Wanjoo’ is how we say ‘Welcome’ at Hilton Primary School, on Wadjuk Noongar Boodjar. We have beautiful, spacious, sustainably managed grounds with multiple play areas and outdoor classrooms. Our school has a very supportive, creative, and engaged community.

We are seeking Teachers with a growth mindset and commitment to our Plan for Growth: 2021-2024 who will contribute to our positive school culture and value our distributed leadership processes.

Suitable applicants should connect with our community. They should understand the diverse strengths and needs of our children and the importance of data-based planning for curriculum differentiation, in every class.

Familiarity with Special Educational Needs (SEN)-Planning, Response to Intervention (Tiers 1,2 and 3), and Case Management, will be well regarded. We practice intentional teaching and learning as well as play-based learning and nature pedagogy.

At Hilton PS we Connect, Care & Collaborate so that every child's learning is nurtured every day. Our teachers engage students in a Literacy block and Numeracy block each day.  Further to our successful 2022 Public School Review, we are continuing to develop our consistent and connected Literacy and Numeracy pedagogy.

During 2024 our focus is to refining lesson structure, data-based planning, CMS  (Classroom Management Strategies) & PBS (Positive Behaviour Support). Our teachers engage in collaborative planning meetings, Phase of Learning meetings and curriculum team processes.

At Hilton PS our teachers are leading change in quality differentiated teaching practice.

This year our intentional teaching of English will include Letters & Sounds Kindergarten to Year 4 (K-4) & for SAER (Students at Educational Risk), Words Their Way, Talk for Writing and whole school professional learning about The Big Six for Literacy, Brightpath Writing and Top Ten Maths.

We offer specialist teaching of Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education and AUSLAN. Our outdoor classrooms support intentional teaching through Nature pedagogy: "Everything we can teach inside a classroom, we can teach outside". 

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
