Carlton R-9 School is located in Port Augusta with a majority of enrolments being children from ATSI heritage and EALD students with diverse social and emotional needs, and many of whom have experienced trauma and compound educational disadvantage. A high level of importance is placed on making strong connections and fostering positive interactions with its community. Additionally all staff are required to deliver the Child Protection Curriculum and "Leader in Me" sessions. The school supports Adnyamathanha instruction and is strengthening EALD outcomes through the LEAP. Behaviour Education is ongoing aspect of every teacher's role in Carlton School; we are embedding the Zones of Regulation and all staff recently trained in Restorative Practices.
We have a range of possibilities that could evolve with the mid-year intake of pre-school learners and student numbers in the junior school. We are seeking a teacher to join the Carlton School team to work with a junior primary class all of the week if the current class needs to be split in term 3 or who could work with small groups of students in the delivery of Intervention programs across the school strengthening identified students literacy and numeracy skills as well as release the other junior primary teacher one day a week.
