Cannington Community College (CC) are seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our fantastic team.

The successful applicant should be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. You should be relationship focused, display strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work both independently, and within a team environment. The successful applicant should also have the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and the wider community.

The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate teacher of Science, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and the ability to build and maintain a positive learning environment where students flourish.

The successful applicant should exhibit an engaging and energetic teaching style, provide educational opportunities and activities that allow students to achieve their full potential, and routinely reflect and assess your teaching practices on the effectiveness of the program.

The successful applicant will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable and possess a thorough understanding of instructional and curriculum expertise along with the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise Information Communication Technology (ICT) to provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students.

A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs.

Cannington CC is in the heart of the City of Canning business precinct, which is currently undergoing broad-scale redevelopment. It is anticipated that the College will continue to grow with the advent of an extra housing development in the adjacent Coker Park area over the next few years.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
