Team Leader - Community Services - Children and Youth
We are currently seeking an experienced, proactive and motivated Team Leader to join our supportive team working in Hobart working in our Children and Youth team. This Team Leader will lead a team of support workers who work with clients to improve their daily lives and achieve their individual goals.

About the team
Nexus Inc.'s Children and Youth team provides supports from the age of 7 to 15 years of age with services including after school supports, community access and capacity building also including long and short-term respite services providing planned respite options for Children and Youth with a variety of support needs.
Team Leader – Children and Youth
The Team leader supervises a team of full-time, permanent part-time and casual staff. You will perform a range of administrative duties as well as working as part of the direct care team to ensure that services are delivered to the highest possible standard. This position also requires flexibility to work shiftwork as required.
Our successful candidate will have (Selection Criteria):
- Well-developed written and verbal skills with an ability to communicate across different levels of the organisation.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Capacity to build rapport and provide support to employees.
- High level data management skills.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to your work.
- Ability to manage a diverse team.
- Demonstrated ability in managing emergency situations and stress
- Proven experience in working with people with disability.
- Experience in a similar position in the not-for-profit sector is beneficial but not essential.
- Understanding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) would be advantageous.
- Substantial experience supporting people with a disability, or other similar experience providing direct care supports.
- Diploma of Disability, or Diploma of Community Services, or Diploma of Frontline Management are desirable qualifications, though non-essential. (tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Childrens Services is highly desirable to undertake 1:1 Children's services).
- Experience with Positive Behaviour support and trauma is an advantage, including Trauma Informed Practice.
Working in the disability sector means you will also need the following:
- Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (with an NDIS endorsement /employment type or ability to obtain)
- Current First Aid certificate and medication training (HLTHPS006)
- Unrestricted Tasmanian Driver’s license
- Certificate of full Covid 19 vaccination (in-line with current government requirements).
Note: A pre-employment physical will be required for this role (including drug and alcohol testing).
