We are in the market for an experienced and qualified professional as team lead for Drainage Construction, you are passionate about your profession and enjoy the rewards of a good challenge. As a team lead you will lead and manage Drainage Construction crew and will play an important role for delivery of capital works and maintenance programs. Reporting to Drainage Supervisor, you will plan and manage resources, plant and equipment required for safe and successful delivery of storm water drainage works.

What can you bring to the team?

  • Implementing and undertaking designated storm water Drainage Construction and maintenance programs
  • Management and control of the City’s road and Drainage Construction and maintenance
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Guiding the work of a small team and providing on the job training
  • Maintaining required quality standards
  • Providing leadership to ensure safety standards are maintained
  • Ensuring the proper operation and security of materials, plant and equipment

To be successful you will have:

  • Two years of pipe laying, gully construction and operation of pumps experience on a Drainage Construction site
  • Previous experience supervising employees and conducting practical staff training
  • Thorough knowledge of drainage, road construction and maintenance techniques, methods and quality control procedures.
  • Understanding and interpreting drawings/plans and implementing construction as per design.
  • Good knowledge of the safe operation, working practices and user maintenance of plant and equipment in a general construction environment.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles and practices of Occupational Safety and Health and Equal Opportunity.
  • Knowledge of materials and equipment estimating, budgetary preparation and control, costing and administration.
  • Understanding of contract management principles.
  • Detailed knowledge of local government general procedures and standards.
  • Current certificate in Basic Worksite Traffic Management
  • Excavator and Vehicle Mounted Crane Accreditation Certificates
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Current unrestricted “HR” (Heavy Rigid) class national driver’s licence
  • Current Forklift operating licence
  • Possession of, or progress towards, a Local Government Supervisors Certificate (desirable)
  • Completion of Year 10 Certificate (desirable)

The finer details

This permanent fulltime OSE Level 4 position attracts a salary range of $70,252 to $72,759, gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience and includes Commuter Use of a Council Vehicle.  We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
