About the Opportunity
Opportunity to join the SWSLHD Hand Centre - Hand Therapy Team in the Team Leader role. The SWSLHD Hand Centre multidisciplinary clinical team delivers a high volume, acute / trauma Hand Service in a collocated clinic environment. The Hand therapy team services the clients across the district with some outreach therapy offered onsite at Campbelltown.

What You'll be Doing
This position supports the provision of safe, timely, compassionate and high-quality person-centred care and is responsible for leadership, line management, clinical governance and ongoing development of a team of physiotherapists / occupational therapists in the SWSLHD Hand Clinic.

 The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring high quality clinical services within an evidence-based practice framework. As a senior member of the multidisciplinary team it liaises and consults with staff within the Hand Clinic, Emergency Department, Theatres and other relevant teams across SWSLHD. The Team Leader will demonstrate leadership and innovation in Hand Therapy team projects involving evaluation of Hand Therapy services, outcomes and ongoing service and staff skill development.

 This position will work with the Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy and Hand Clinic leadership team and managers in determining and being actively involved in longer term departmental strategic planning.

Fairfield hospital is located in one of NSW’s largest LGA’s and is a hub of diverse cultures, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Current Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Certified Hand Therapist with eligibility for AHTA Membership
  2. Demonstrated experience in the leadership and supervision of a team of staff as well as clinical education of students
  3. Demonstrated experience in leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery models within an evidence based framework
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including networking, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, computer literacy and time management skills
  5. Demonstrated ability to apply independent professional judgement whilst working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  6. Demonstrated high level clinical expertise and knowledge with experience in Hand Therapy assessment and treatment, including the management of novel and complex presentations, static/dynamic splinting and wound / scar management
  7. Demonstrated experience providing clinical consultation in Hand Therapy with liaison across a wide network to support local demands and client/stakeholder needs
  8. Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment
