Your Position:
Burwood Council is seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Team Leader to plan and coordinate the landscape construction and maintenance in various parks/reserves and streetscape areas. For this position you will require strong leadership and communication skills and be able to oversee the day to day tasks of the Labourer/Drivers within your team.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-
- Planning and scheduling of daily and weekly routines for Landscape Maintenance
- Leading and developing a small team of staff and allocating workloads appropriately
- Supervise contractors in your area of responsibility
- Operate plant or implements Eg. roller, excavator, front-end loader/backhoe, flowcon, high-pressure water blaster
- Carry out minor maintenance of vehicles including washing and daily inspection of fuels, oil and water
To be successful in this role you will have:-
- A demonstrated ability to coordinate the work activities of a team of outdoor staff associated with landscaping, parks and gardens construction and maintenance works
- Excellent comminication skills
- An understanding of the principles of EEO, WH&S and cultural diversity and how they are applied in the workplace
- Experience in the operation of mid-sized ride-on mowers and other small plant associated with parks and gardens (whipper-snippers, rotary hoe etc).
Key Requirements:
- COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
- Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment
- Class MR Driver's Licence
- OHS Introduction to Construction certificate (White Card)
- Horticultural Qualification, Certificate III TAFE qualifications
- Traffic Controllers Certificate, Implement Traffic Control Plans and Prepare Traffic Management Plans OR preparedness to obtain these qualifications
