About the role:
The Cybercrime Intelligence Assessment Unit (CIAU) and is a frontline unit within the Victoria Police Cybercrime Squad. The team manages online reports of cybercrime submitted by the public and referred to Victoria Police via ReportCyber (cyber.gov.au); and produces cybercrime intelligence and other reporting from ReportCyber reports and other sources to inform police responses across the organisation. The extended team consists of detectives and intelligence analysts working collaboratively to respond to reports of cybercrime by providing support for victims, investigating and disrupting offending.
The Senior Intelligence Analyst/Team Leader position reports to the CIAU Detective Senior Sergeant and works closely with both the CIAU and the Cybercrime Squad. They are responsible for the leadership and management of a team of intelligence analysts and maintaining oversight of the cybercrime reporting process. Specifically, this role requires a combination of operational intelligence service delivery and supervisory duties in a dynamic environment that necessitates strong leadership, analytical, time management and critical thinking skills.
The Cybercrime Squad has recently advertised for 3 VPS2 data entry personnel who will be responsible for the Report Cyber reporting process. As that process evolves you and your team will be required to develop and implement an intelligence model that supports the Victoria Police Cybercrime Strategy 2022-2027.

Your duties will include:
- Lead and manage the CIAU and providing leadership and guidance to support the function of the unit
- Validation and dissemination of Information Reports from the Cyber Issues Reporting System (CIRS)
- Produce cybercrime intelligence products from ReportCyber reports and other sources to inform police responses across the organisation
- Liaising and developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Cultivate and maintain a detailed knowledge of the current cybercrime environment
- Efficiently utilising a range of computer systems and applications to provide high-quality analysis
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience as a mentor and leader, providing guidance and supporting professional development in a team environment
- A proven ability to work well within a dynamic and busy team environment of sworn and public service employees
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and written/oral communication skills
- Experience in the development and dissemination of intelligence analysis
- Highly developed ability to review information and identify trends, anticipate problems, and recommend actionable solutions
- Tertiary qualifications in related fields of criminology, criminal justice, or criminal intelligence are highly desirable.
Requirements and relevant information:
- One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
