  • Full-Time Permanent
  • Salary from $96,626 - $102,676 per annum plus superannuation

About The Role

The role leads a team of five Community Development professionals with a focus on Youth and Children, who formulate and implement community strategies, policies, procedures and capacity building initiatives for young people.  These practices aim to strengthen outcomes for young people and drive positive change.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading the performance and development of staff
  • Actively developing and contributing to a cohesive team environment
  • Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic Community Development initiatives aligning to the City's objectives
  • Monitoring and understanding strategic Community Development needs, trends and policy positioning.
  • Leading and developing relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, community leaders, other key stakeholders.
  • Leading the preparation reports and other papers tailored to the needs of the target audience.
  • Advocating for the needs of the local community and the City to relevant stakeholders and government departments.
  • Leading the development of sustainable relationships and partnerships.
  • Provide advice regarding opportunities and issues in relation to community needs and trends, partnerships, diversity, inclusion including emerging issues and advocacy opportunities.
  • Continuous improvement of processes and initiatives

About You

You will be an adaptable and collaborative Community Development leader, who has experience in policy writing, social planning, research and project management.

The role will utilise your skills in people development, strategic youth and childhood development, change management, community capacity building, policy development, relationship building, project management, and advocacy to deliver social outcomes for our community.

We are seeking someone who is innovative with excellent relationship building skills and an ability to consider broader City or community impacts of any work being undertaken and good problem solving and analytical skills. They must also thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation.

Essential

  1. Experience in a Team Leader, operational leader or similar role.
  2. Experience coaching, motivating and developing teams.
  3. Planning and facilitating community initiatives and projects.
  4. Experience in undertaking, and reporting clearly on social research within youth or community context.
  5. Experience in the monitoring and evaluation of actions, plans and initiatives.
