About Position
The role leads a team of five community development professionals who formulate and implement community strategies, policies and procedures, delivered through sustainable relationships and partnerships, to strengthen the City's community impacts and drive positive change.
This role is responsible for:
- Leading the performance and development of staff
- Actively developing and contributing to a cohesive team environment
- Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic community development initiatives aligning to the City's objectives
- Monitoring and understanding strategic community development needs, trends and policy positioning
- Leading and developing relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, community leaders, other key stakeholders
- Leading the preparation reports and other papers tailored to the needs of the target audience
- Advocating for the needs of the local community and the City to relevant stakeholders and government departments.
- Provide advice regarding opportunities and issues in relation to community needs and trends, partnerships, diversity, inclusion including emerging issues and advocacy opportunities
- Continuous improvement of processes and initiatives

About You
You will be an adaptable, collaborative, experienced community development professional. With strong experience leading and coaching staff, you will have developed and delivered strategic plans and actions through working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. You will thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation.
You can demonstrate through your resume, cover letter and selection criteria that you meet the following capabilities:
Essential
- Experience in a Team Leader, operational leader or similar role;
- Experience in supervising the work of others, providing technical assistance and motivating staff;
- Qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent experience;
- Advanced research and analysis skills;
- Good negotiation and communication skills, including experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders;
- Experience in the development and implementation of strategic plans and actions;
- Experience in the monitoring and evaluation of actions, plans and initiatives;
- Experience in understanding and advocating for community needs to relevant internal and external stakeholders; and
- Current C class drivers licence.
Desirable
- Experience working in Local Government.
