What's the Job?
Step into the realm of cutting-edge technology, where you'll be instrumental in shaping our custom large-scale Enterprise Platform, built on the robust foundation of WordPress (but definitely not the vanilla 2001 version!). As a Tech Lead for Site Production Platform (SPP), you'll be at the forefront of solving intriguing problems that span both local and global initiatives within News Corp.
Your Responsibilities:
- Take the reins of our developer stack, ensuring its smooth operation, documentation, and continuous enhancement.
Lead the charge in designing innovative solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible.
Play a key role in task planning and estimation processes, ensuring projects stay on track and on schedule.
Advocate for and uphold engineering best practices, fostering a culture of excellence within the team.
Contribute actively to the ongoing refinement of engineering processes, ensuring we're always evolving and improving.
Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure that team standards are rigorously maintained.
Issue Identification and Resolution: Proactively identify trends in production issues and propose proactive solutions to mitigate risks.
Configure, enhance, and maintain monitoring and alerting systems, playing a pivotal role in incident resolution.
Demonstrate your innovative spirit by delivering compelling proof of concept solutions that drive our platform forward.
Engage in limited stakeholder management, ensuring alignment and understanding of key technical decisions.
Who are you?
Key Capabilities:
- PHP Mastery: Extensive experience and expertise in PHP development.
Version Control and Testing: Proficiency in version control systems (GIT, SVN) and experience with unit testing (PHPUnit).
Bonus Skills: Experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, front-end frameworks (VueJS/React), CI/CD processes, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and frameworks like Zend, Laravel, Symfony, or open-source CMS like WordPress, Joomla, Magento, Drupal.
Core Competencies:
- Ability to tackle complex problems with speed and precision.
Thrive under pressure, adept at prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, able to convey solutions clearly and effectively.
