Join this recently formed, Data Capability team as a Technical Business Analyst!You'll act as the primary liaison between the business and technical data teams. Own and maintain a clear roadmap for a growing portfolio of data products and (with the support of leadership), communicate that roadmap to the business.
Collaborate with a wide range of business units to translate the information they need into requirements for data and visualisation, and be hands-on in assisting with development of data structures and visualisations.
As this data capability continues to evolve, there is opportunity to grow your technical skills under the guidance of experts, including the development, application and maintenance of machine learning models and artificial intelligence.
The role :
• Engage directly with all levels of staff within each business unit to ascertain the most valuable information to provide.
• Own and maintain a clear roadmap of data products within the context of the wider data strategy.
• Develop clear, written business requirements for each product, including wireframes and prototypes where required.
• Provide plain-language explanations of information derived from the data, its meaning and its impact on the business.
• Analyse source system databases (in-house and SaaS) to determine the semantic meaning of data fields.
• Use SQL on the Databricks platform to analyse and structure data to match the requirements of the business.
• Build dashboards in Tableau to visualise information.
• Occasionally provide ad-hoc support for data analysis where requested by the business.
• Test and provide quantitative feedback on the quality and integrity of existing data.
Reporting to - Global Manager of Data Strategy and Architecture
YOU:
• At least 3 years’ experience as part of a data team.
• At least 6 months’ experience using Tableau as a visualisation tool.
• Intermediate-level SQL skills for analysis.
• An interest in other languages typically used for data analysis (e.g. Python, R).
• Demonstrated experience in leading a project or program of work.
• Experience working with a remote team distributed across timezones is desirable.
• Demonstrate agility, delivering the most valuable features first, and pivoting if that value changes.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with stakeholders, becoming the ‘go-to’ person when they need something.
• Use strong relationships to challenge stakeholders on their requirements and their relative value, and be confident in suggesting alternative solutions.
• You’re willing to jump in to technical challenges and not shy to reach out where you need help.
• You’re confident to be the first to reach out to stakeholders to introduce yourself and gather/clarify requirements.
• You’re constantly assessing the value of what you’re working on and making informed decisions about where your efforts are best spent.
