The Role…
Reporting to the Property Claims Team Leader, the Technical Claims Specialist will be responsible for delivering best practice claims management for complex claims and provide technical coaching and support to the claims team in line with strategic and operational objectives of the business.
In the role you will be proactively managing a complex Commercial Property claims portfolio (including small to large losses) end to end, using, and continuing to build on your technical expertise in Industrial Special Risks (ISR) Policy, Commercial Property Owner and Business Insurance.
Other duties may include, maintaining accurate and timely reserves for customers in line with our claims guidelines and, as a support for others in the team, approving reserve increases and payments as required and assisting with and responding to IDR requests.
It is essential that you can establish, build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships including but not limited to our clients, brokers, panel service providers and other team members. You will need to possess and clearly demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, a high attention to detail and the ability to analyse and distil complex information from multiple sources to inform your decisions. A strong 'customer first' focus is essential for the success of this role.
The required experience we are looking for…
  • Experienced in managing complex commercial property claims
  • Experience coaching and mentoring other team members
  • Ability to confidently handle complaints and denials
  • Excellent knowledge of a broad range of claims, including Industrial Special Risks (ISR) Policy, Commercial Property Owner and Business Insurance, specifically in Business Interruption and complex claims
  • Cert IV in General Insurance and/or Diploma of General Insurance (desirable)
  • RG146 Tier 2 certification (desirable)
