Do you enjoy spending time between the office and out on the water, and have sound knowledge in planned and unplanned maintenance requirements for marine vessels? If so, we have an opportunity for a Technical Co-ordinator to join our office team in Melbourne, VIC, on a permanent full-time basis.

Our office in Melbourne is located on the waterfront in the Port of Melbourne, with free parking onsite and a decent coffee only a short drive away. Our local team has extensive knowledge and experience in the marine industry, and our success as a team is rooted in the loyalty, hard work and dedication we demonstrate to one another.

What You Will Do

Your key responsibilities in this position will include:

  • Co-ordinating the maintenance and repair for tug boats;
  • Tug boat budget management.
  • Managing inventory, supplies and suppliers.
  • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Fostering safety culture and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Such duties as are reasonably required by management, provided that the duties are within the skills, competence and training of the employee concerned to undertake.
  • Be reasonably able to travel to meet business requirements.


What You Will Need To Succeed

To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated experience in the field of engineering, with a relevant maritime or trade qualification and experience in a similar onshore role.
  • An understanding of various mechanical equipment and systems including diesel engines, power generation, dynamic positioning, tug propulsion systems and hydraulics
  • A solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to perform root cause analysis to determine underlying problems.
  • A strong degree of initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Competency in MS Office Suite and basic understanding of computer network hardware and system architecture
  • The flexibility to travel to port locations as required to meet operational demands.
