Your next opportunity

The Technical Data Manager (TDM) is responsible for compiling, tracking and delivering Technical Data products and technical publications as part of the project support system program. Working as part of the ILS team, the TDM will also work closely with Engineering and Configuration Management specialists, both in Australia and overseas, to satisfy customer data requirements while adhering to Rheinmetall data management protocols. As the Technical Data SME, the TDM will also oversee the development of IETPs and other technical publications, working with maintenance, production, engineering and training specialists and customer representatives.

As Technical Data Manager, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Work to the Integrated Logistic Support Manager in the development, completion and delivery of technical documentation and data deliverables;
  • Establish a Technical Data Management Process for RDA, document and have approved and Published within RIMS;
  • Develop and implement effective practices for the management and tracking of Technical Data in conjunction with engineering and configuration management teams;
  • Support the development of data management plans and protocols in conjunction with the Configuration Management team;
  • Develop and implement controls to ensure correct versioning of data deliverables;
  • Manage the development, review and delivery of the Technical Data Plan (TDP) and Technical Data List (TDL);
  • Develop and Implement Change process for the continuous improvement of Data Management;
  • Provide Training to Rheinmetall teams in the Data Management and Formatting;
  • Manage the collection and delivery of codification data (CDATA);
  • Oversee the development of Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) in accordance with S1000D and S2000M;
  • Support the development of other technical publications and other ILS deliverables;
  • Identify data deficiencies and develop solutions to ensure contracted requirements and schedules are satisfied; and
  • Support the development of data management plans and protocols in conjunction with the Configuration Management team.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in data management, logistics or related disciplines;
  • 5 + years experience in Technical Data in a Defence or similar project environment;
  • Proficient with S1000D and S2000M;
  • Proficient with DEF(AUST) 5691;
  • Experience with modern database and information system technologies;
  • Professional Certification in a related subject (ITIL);
  • Experience with document and configuration; management and release processes;
  • Experience as a Configuration Manager in a Defence Environment;
  • Demonstrate flexibility, proven organisational skills and ability to balance priorities;
  • Strong attention to detail, reliably producing high accuracy products;
  • Experience in the Delivery of Training;
  • Currently hold or meet the criteria to gain an Australian Government Security Clearance; and
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
