Technical Director- Rail Systems Engineer

We support rail operators, asset owners, railway managers, maintainers, financiers, suppliers, contractors, and government regulators to deliver optimal railway project design, engineering, delivery, and operational solutions.
With an expanding portfolio of projects, our Transport Group has a need for an experienced Technical Director - Rail Systems to join our SQ Rail Team. The successful candidate will support the Rail Systems Team Lead and Rail Business Group Leader in this delivery and project-focused role, taking on responsibility for the direction and guidance of project teams to bridge the gap between technology suppliers and railway operators.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Ensuring GHD's signalling competencies remain relevant to the emerging market opportunities.
• Delivery of quality documentation to clients and ensuring agreed deadlines are met.
• Providing advice and guidance to transportation projects through all lifecycle phase from concept development and planning through detailed design and construction phase support.
• Understanding Project Manager's needs and working to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Understanding the client's needs and working to achieve a desirable outcome that satisfies both GHD and the client.
• Identify and develop relationships with industry partners, including technology providers and consultants.
• Winning work through client relationships and ability to prepare proposals.

What would you bring to the team?

• Electrical Engineering degree or recognised tertiary qualification.
• 15+ years postgraduate experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ).
• Well-developed lead technical skills in Digital Train Control (DTC) technologies such as ETCS and CBTC.
• Proven technical capability across signalling, control and train protection systems.
• Proven track record to lead a team of specialists with a wide range of skills and experience.
• An ability to develop lasting client relationships based on trust and delivery excellence Demonstrated experience in delivering projects from proposal to completion.
• Previous success in securing (small / medium / large) local work packages from target key clients.
