About the opportunity

The Technical IT Administrator will be at the forefront of CASA’s exciting and all-encompassing cloud migration program and on-going support for the Microsoft Azure environment. Reporting to the Solutions Capability Team Leader, the Technical Administrator provides technical expertise and guidance in system administration for the effective delivery and management of CASA’s strategic objectives.

The Technical Administrator works autonomously and in collaboration with others across the wider Information Technology Branch to deliver the system administration functions of CASA systems, providing support to internal and external clients.

The Technical Administrator is responsible for:

  1. Providing technical expertise, administration, and support of system solutions for the effective delivery and management of nominated CASA’s IT systems.
  2. Providing technical services; particularly in Windows Server, Windows Server fundamentals (AD, DNS, DFS, Group Policy etc), and the administration of Microsoft Azure environmentst
  3. Assisting with the identification and resolution of production problems including vendor liaison.
  4. Providing professional advice, support, assistance and feedback regarding technical issues, and services to ensure the alignment with best practice and CASA’s strategic intent.
  5. Assisting with the development, documentation and improvement of ICT procedures and practices
  6. Collaborating, participating in and contributing to the planning, development and delivery of team plans to support the Team/Branch and broader CASA goals and objectives.
  7. Supporting the implementation of change and promoting continuous improvement activities within the team/Branch and across the organisation as appropriate.
  8. Assisting with the delivery of the Sections work program and contributing to strategic and operational priorities for ICT within CASA.
  9. Participating in a team 24x7 on-call roster to provide infrastructure support out of hours (approximately 1 week in 8).
  10. Modelling and promoting workplace safety, equity and diversity, participative management and environmental management in the workplace and act in accordance with CASA’s Values and Behaviours.

Our ideal candidate

It is ESSENTIAL our ideal candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Technical expertise in Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Experience as a Technical IT Administrator or similar role.
  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting complex IT problems.
  • Technical expertise in of Windows 10, Windows Server, and Windows Server fundamentals (AD, DNS, DFS, Group Policy etc).
  • Ability to communicate with influence (both verbally and in writing) with the capacity to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical people.

Flexibility and the capacity to exercise judgement, intelligence, discretion and independence for performing their CASA work responsibilities. CASA are recruiting for several multi-disciplinary positions. The following additional skills are highly desirable but not essential

  • Experience with Office 365 & Exchange.
  • Experience with Backups using Azure Backup.
  • Experience with application packaging, SOE development, patching and deployments using SCCM and Intune.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Relevant experience, tertiary or formal qualifications.
  • Ability to manage and enhance the operational efficiency of the ICT environment.
  • Building and sustaining internal and external stakeholder relationships that are founded on credibility and trust.

Eligibility requirements

Employment with CASA is subject to conditions prescribed within the Civil Aviation Act 1988. The following eligibility requirements apply to this position: 

·      At minimum, prospective CASA employees must undergo pre-employment screening. You must be willing to provide required information to successfully undergo a police record check.

·      Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

·      The occupant of the position must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
