About the role
This role is responsible for providing practical operational and technical support to the Yanco Agricultural Institute, Site Manager and to the Livestock Systems research team.
Your focus will be on farm operations relating to the Southern Multibreed beef cattle research project and pasture and cropping activities.
The role also assists operational and research staff by supporting commercial agricultural and livestock operations, as well as supporting and undertaking field and animal house research projects.
What will my day look like?
Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the collection and preparation of data for processing, along with the maintenance of equipment. The role works across extensive livestock species and supports a range of research and development disciplines.
You will be challenged to
- Effectively and efficiently coordinate activities across a variety of diverse projects, which are led by separate and distinct researchers, as per project milestone deadlines.
- Collecting and managing large research data sets, ensuring data is in a format appropriate for analysis and interpretation.
- Undertaking physical and manual work in varying environmental conditions.
To be successful in the role you will have
- The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff
- Project management skills and experience, including the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver results
- Qualifications in accordance with Part 2 (xvii) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award relevant to the role
- Current NSW driver’s licence
- Q fever vaccination certificate
