About this opportunity

As the Technical Officer Electrical you provide specialist electrical and mechanical (air conditioning) services to Council and community groups to ensure relevant building services are maintained and that new installations are fit for purpose and comply with statutory requirements. 

Additionally, you’ll also …

• Oversee electrical and mechanical services for diverse Council facilities, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance.
• Manage installations, upgrades, inspections, and breakdown repairs of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and service contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Lead capital projects and identify energy efficiency opportunities, including LED lighting and solar technology.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders, while maintaining accurate records and budget monitoring.
• Provide timely reports and support to management, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and Council policies.
• Offer expertise and assistance to other Council units as required, promoting collaboration and effective service delivery.
• Proven track record of managing electrical and mechanical installations, upgrades, and periodic inspections in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Drive a culture of quality, safety, and innovation in all aspects of electrical and mechanical services

About you…

• Certificate III in Electro Technology or equivalent.
• Current Queensland C Class drivers' license
• Current Queensland Electrical License registration. 
• Extensive experience in project management, including the development, assessment, and management of service and maintenance contracts, with a focus on budget estimation and project delivery.
• Comprehensive understanding of relevant standards, Acts, and Regulations governing electrical and mechanical services, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and industry best practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community members, contractors, and internal council employees.
• Analytical mindset with a proven ability to identify and resolve complex issues related to electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of council assets.
• Demonstrate your exceptional communication skills through active listening and articulate written communication, essential qualities that contribute to a collaborative and efficient work environment.
