The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Technical Officer – Mechanical to join our Transmissions team in Alice Springs or Tennant Creek, NT on a permanent full time basis.
Reporting to the Regional Manager NT South (Alice Springs), you will play a key role in providing safe and efficient operation of process control and mechanical maintenance of high-pressure transmission pipeline systems.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain pipeline and associated facilities (including equipment, stations, bases, grounds, vehicles & workshop) to reliably deliver energy for our customers.
Knowledge of Right of Way Maintenance for pipeline structures.
Third Party Awareness and Landowner Relations – assist and communicate as required.
Contribute to the safe culture of the APA Group, looking out for your colleagues, our community, environment and yourself in accordance with APA’s HSE procedures.
Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System to plan and record all the maintenance activities.
Your background
Mechanical trade or equivalent work experience in a relevant industry.
Experience in operation and maintenance within heavy industrial environment.
Knowledge of pressures, flows and distribution cause and effect and basic instrumentation an advantage.
Current manual driver’s licence.
Demonstrated knowledge of HSE principles and commitment to safety.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to work in a team.
Adaptability to changing priorities to maintain operations.
Able to work autonomously and in remote locations.
Able to work on call and attend to overtime as required.
About the Team
The NT South team covers an area from Mereenie near Kings Canyon to Newcastle Waters, looking after the southern part of the Amadeus Gas Pipeline, assisting in the maintenance of the Palm Valley Pipeline and the Alice Springs Distribution Network.
We have a combination of Electrical, Mechanical and Administrative trade backgrounds, with significant industry knowledge that embodies the APA values, emphasising safety and a passion for their work.
