About the role

An opportunity has become available for a Full Time Technical Officer at our Adelaide Airport Laboratory, SA Microbiology Dept.

The position involves working in a fast paced environment and will be suitable for individuals who pride themselves on the level of accuracy in their work and have a strong customer focus.  You will work as part of an experienced and dedicated team with exposure to a wide diversity of work.   The successful applicant will be an experienced Laboratory Technician/Technical Officer with the ability to participate in a 7-day rotating roster that includes night and afternoon shifts.

The duties of the role will include Microbiology, Environmental water testing, Serology, Mycology, Mycobacterium, Molecular specimens set up and reporting. Participation in evening and weekend shifts will be required.

About you

  • Candidates must have a Diploma in Laboratory Techniques (or equivalent)
  • Experience and understanding of Microbiology KPI requirements.
  • Suitable experience working in Microbiology and/or Mycobacteriology culture plate/bench reading experience is highly desired for this role.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent projects which require a high level of applied knowledge and skills, gained by experience.
  • Experience in performing duties which require technical skills to apply and understand Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and laboratory practices in the conduct of a range of technical activities in the Microbiology Department.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience working in a NATA accredited laboratory.
  • Demonstrated abilities to prioritise and organise workflow to meet strict deadlines and produce accurate quality results.
  • High attention to detail and experience working in a fast pace environment
  • An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work
  • Ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team
