Period of AppointmentFixed term, 12 months.
Hours per fortnight73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties- Provide the technical experience, skill and expertise which informs the development of the regulations, determinations, Codes of Practice, guidelines and policies that will support the Electricity Safety Act when it is proclaimed.
- Effectively manage the Electricity Safety Bill rollout on behalf of Consumer, Building and Occupational Services, ensuring the achievement of the objectives of the legislation.
- Provide effective leadership to ensure the project is developed and delivered in the best interests of the State and in line with Government Policy.
- Undertake the day to day management of the project, especially in relation to legislative, policy and other specialist areas, ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Undertake and lead high level communication, consultation, negotiation and engagement with stakeholders, including TasNetworks and Aurora Energy, industry bodies such as NECA and Master Electricians Australia, other jurisdictions and agencies.
- Develop high-level policy advice to Government on specialist matters relevant to the implementation of the legislation, functions and activities, including advice on relevant State and National issues.
- Prepare high level reports and briefings for the information and decision of the Minister, Secretary and other relevant persons in regard to implementation of the legislation and the overall program of work.
- Provide technical input to broader technical regulation subordinate legislation, including Directors Determinations.
- Represent the Department in national forums relating to areas across the breadth of activities under the responsibility of the output, as required.
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position or experience and demonstrated knowledge and capacity in electrical safety and electrical regulatory issues.
