About the role
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading the Technical Services team across Australia and New Zealand through the development, management and application of standards, processes and procedures pertaining to Asset Operations with the aim to drive the Ampol Group to becoming best in class.
This role engages with the Energy Solutions broader team and Value Chain groups to establish and deliver technical strategy and business plans by providing technical advice to maximise the effectiveness of asset operations, support processes that influence asset uptime and ensure adherence to technical standards.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the development, management and application of standards, processes and procedures relating to the design, engineering and operations of solutions implemented by the Energy Solutions teams such as Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, Battery Storage Systems, Solar PV Systems and Hydrogen refuelling equipment.
- Contributes to the ongoing development and refinement of applicable standards, processes, and procedures to ensure that technology and equipment is safe, compliant, reliable and efficient, while appropriately managing risk.
- Oversees all technical processes, procedures, and documents to ensure they are consistent with Ampol and Australian standards.
- Develops and manages processes that align asset delivery and implementation to ISO 9001 and asset management to ISO 55001.
- Development and ongoing management of the Energy Solutions drawing office team and resources; people, processes, and systems.
- Develops, and leads team to develop, effective relationships with Energy Solutions contracting partners to optimise and deliver against Asset Operations business plan.
- Facilitates and challenges the team to rapidly and systematically solve problems.
- Sets performance standards and KPIs, transparently monitoring delivery and holding self and team to account.
- Engages across the Energy Solutions Team to establish and deliver the technical strategy and business plan.
About you
We are looking for individuals able to create innovative solutions to meet our customers’ needs, making their energy transition easy and driving value creation; able to manage and navigate ambiguity, complexity, and uncertainty by utilising structured problem-solving techniques.
This role is open to applicants preferably based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane in Australia or in New Zealand; with full working rights and 7+ years’ experience in a similar role, delivering and managing Technical Services within a similar organisation or sector.
Key skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Process preferable
- Experience in managing engineering design teams and resources, and an understanding of related processes and deliverables
- Working knowledge of risk engineering and risk management concepts
- Systematic thinking and applied problem solving to get to root cause.
- Awareness of safety, compliance, and operational excellence
- Analytical thinker, data driven with the ability to leverage data insights across multiple layers to make informed decisions and recommendations.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the capacity to be flexible in balancing priorities to meet/exceed business needs.
- Experience in Technical engineering or operations leadership roles.
- Experience in developing business and strategic plans, and implementation of plans.
- Experience in managing budgets, as well as business budget/planning.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and drive change and performance, through a culture of Continuous Improvement and change management.
