The Role
ALS is seeking Technician for our metallurgical services business in Burnie, TAS.  Successful applicants will become part of its busy mineral testing laboratories that strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time, and by maintaining strong relationships with its clients.

We are seeking to recruit casual technicians however working equivalent to full time hours. The laboratory is based in the Burnie, Tasmania. This is not a FIFO mine site position.

The day to day
Typical duties include:

  • Perform sample handling & inventories
  • Perform sample preparation, including crushing, blending and batch grinding procedures according to ALS Standard Operating Procedures
  • Handling and operation of various laboratory equipment
  • General labouring and housekeeping duties
  • Forklift operation
  • Conduct various bench scale and pilot plant testwork under the direction of supervisory staff
  • Assisting in other duties as required
These are physically demanding positions that require applicants to be physically fit, have access to reliable transportation and be able to work day or afternoon shift as required.

Applicants with previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles will be highly regarded, however, training will be provided for successful applicants with no experience.

Suitable candidates for this role must have:

  • Good numerical, communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Be detail oriented, highly motivated and an ability to problem solve.
  • A moderate level of computer literacy
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • A high regard for personal safety and the safety of others
