The Community Wellbeing Directorate promotes and enhances community wellbeing and social and cultural development through programs, service provision and social policy. In addition to the Director’s office, Departments include:

The Role

This senior role provides leadership to the newly established Creative Communities Department, working towards further developing and enhancing quality services spanning events, festivals, community arts and cultural engagement, as well as the programming and operation of Council’s performing arts and entertainment hub, Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre (PRACC).

The Manager is responsible for providing leadership and vision for the Creative Communities Department and driving short and long-term strategic, artistic and operational goals. The role will lead the Department to enhance the role of creative participation as part of community life in the City of Whittlesea, enabling innovation, new ideas, programs and strategies.

You will collaborate and build strategic partnerships across industry, government, professional bodies, other local governments and commercial entities.

As a member of Council’s Senior Leadership team, this position is responsible for contributing to key strategic initiatives and decision-making.

About you

The Manager Creative Communities will be a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is had a demonstrated commitment to the arts and a deep appreciation for its cultural, educational and social significance.

You will have strong financial acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement a vision, set goals and drive results in the creative industries. A working knowledge of the governance and budgetary processes of local government is desirable.

You have a talent for connection and demonstrable experience in building and enhancing a range of sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
