We are now seeking to appoint two full-time Genomics Technicians to support our services.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, these roles call for a detail oriented and highly motivated individuals who are interested in molecular service provision for a range of cutting-edge workflows and instruments.
Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will be part of a service team using contemporary molecular biology techniques for processing samples. These positions will provide the opportunity to be trained in operating specialist instruments, conducting molecular workflows in the Genomics WA labs and assisting in the maintenance of all equipment including but not limited to Illumina sequencers, Sequel II and Agilent Tapestations 4200 and Femto pulse.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Operating long read and short read sequencers including but not limited to the Novaseq, MiSeq, iSeq and Pac Bio Sequel-II for the provision of sequencing services.
- Performing automated and manual library preparation workflows & operate liquid handling systems.
- Undertaking a range of service projects as part of the Genomics WA team.
- Assisting in the development of service management systems and databases.
About You
These positions would suit someone who thrives under pressure whilst handling competing priorities, with a keen eye for details and a passion to share knowledge with others. The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:
- Degree in Science with a knowledge of library preparation and next generation sequencing technology.
- Demonstrated experience with molecular workflows with the ability to learn and perform other complex workflows (e.g., Molecular Workflows) and operate complex instruments.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills and be comfortable working independently.
- Familiarity with laboratory management and safety procedures and excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines in an organised manner.
- Past experience in a lab conducting Genomics workflows is desirable.
