Technology Architect Suncorp

As a Technology Architect Suncorp you will play a pivotal role in one of the key strategic programs for the bank and a historic deal in the Australian banking landscape. You will bridge the gap between high-level enterprise architecture and detailed solution design. You will be a key contributor to the strategy of the program and work closely alongside the delivery teams to bring that to life over the course of the program. This role will be expected to uniquely blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, problem solving, delivery experience and commercial acumen. You will use your skillset to support multiple domains and engage a broad set of stakeholders in a diverse and dynamic working environment. Your communication skills will be essential in providing shared clarity and  alignment between technical architects through to senior executives. Representing the Architecture function on the program, you will be part a small but influential team that has a large impact on the success of the program.

• Ensure that technology solutions align with the strategic objectives of the program and the broader goals of ANZ Bank.
• Work closely with delivery teams by closely collaborating with them, providing guidance, technical assistance, and removing roadblocks to ensure the successful delivery of the program.
• Provide oversight of the architecture framework, ensuring that technology decisions align with architectural principles and standards.
• Lead the design and development of technology solutions, ensuring that they meet program requirements and adhere to best practices.
• Engage with a broad range of stakeholders, including business leaders, technical architects, and project teams, to gather requirements, communicate architectural decisions, and foster alignment.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with technology solutions, ensuring that security, compliance, and regulatory requirements are addressed effectively.
• Collaborate with vendors and external partners to evaluate and integrate third-party solutions, ensuring that they align with program objectives, meet quality standards, and are commercially viable.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of technology solutions, leveraging feedback and lessons learned from previous projects.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, maintaining documentation and providing evidence of adherence as needed.
• Operating an architecture assurance function that is compliant with regulatory requirements, as part of a federated architecture operating model.
• Provide thought leadership as a core member of the program architecture function. May include contributing to the broader enterprise governance, assurance practices, processes, and standards.

The ‘must have’ knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:

• A technically deep background in either application or infrastructure architecture
• Pattern of established successes in different projects/programs that demonstrate your ability to apply your skillset
• A broad, working technical knowledge of how to design, implementation, and run technology in a large complex and regulated environment.
• Extensive experience in architecture as practiced in large enterprises – process, enablement, governance, socialisation, communication.
• Experience in technical vendor management, including support of commercial contract renewals, sourcing of new vendors, analysis of vendor fit to solution requirements, and during major programs of change.
• A bias towards pragmatism – perfection is the enemy of good. You will seek to understand the business strategy and limitations and work towards an achievable target, iterating to improve over time.
• Highly proficient in leading by influencing, managing stakeholder relationships, expectations, and requirements.
• Proven track record in establishing credibility and building strong partnerships with diverse stakeholder backgrounds, spanning technical and business.
• Ability to communicate and guide strategic direction to a wide variety of technical, management and executive levels in both written and verbal presentations. This includes an ability to explain complex technical situations in plain business language to a variety of stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
• Skilled at coaching and mentoring developing architects to encourage curiosity, safe spaces for debate, and a desire for continuous improvement.
