Job description

How will I help?

The Consumer Finance Technology, Technology Service Owner is responsible for defining the day-to-day activities of the squad, prioritisation of work and ensuring delivery, giving guidance and clearing the way to execute. The Technology Service Owner may or may not have additional People Leadership responsibilities. 

Key Responsibilities

  • The Technology Service Owner is, first and foremost, a contributing member to the day to day activities of the squad – just like any other squad member
  • Working in the squad, leveraging their craft/capability to drive the desired squad outcomes
  • Defining the day to day activities of the squad focusing on motivating, coaching and performance – with the support of the Agile Coach and Chapter Lead
  • Setting a clear vision and strategy, communication ‘the story’ well to key stakeholders and the rest of the team
  • Defining and constantly prioritising the backlog based on customer and business value, coordinating new requests and managing cross squad dependencies
  • Continuously refining the service backlog to ensure all activities are clearly described, estimated, and prioritised
  • Taking accountability for service/product decisions in the fast-paced environment
  • Managing cross-squad and village dependencies, with a focus on driving collaboration
  • Ensuring the activities of the squad remain within risk appetite
  • Supporting the Technology Portfolio owner (Village Lead) on all aspects of end to end service management, risk and delivery.
  • Setting a clear vision and strategy with collaboration from the squad and leading the QBR process from the squad perspective to ensure we achieved the prioritised business outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, by incorporating feedback when appropriate
  • Coordinating, empowering and enabling the squad to deliver to customers’ needs and delight them, including communicating impediments to deliveryWorking with Agile Coach and Chapter Leads to identify capability gaps within the squad, and how to resolve them
  • Day to day management of squad activities, coaching and performance management
  • Story acceptance ensuring all backlog items are well defined, understood and delivered upon without compromising quality.
  • Developing squad competency by working with Agile Coach and Chapter Lead
  • Exuding passion and energy to foster enthusiasm among the squad in bringing the vision to life.

What do I need?

Need to have:

  • Java and Spring boot experience.
  • Microservices and high transaction application management experience.
  • Cards and Payments experience.
  • Should be able to lead a team of engineers and solution designers.
  • Responsible for not only change but L3 BAU activities.

Nice to have:

  • Production service management experience.
  • Wallets and Card payments experience.
  • ReactJS and NodeJS experience.
