An exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer/technical lead to join the financial markets team at Westpac Institutional Banking. We are looking for someone that has deep knowledge of Java or C# and good understanding on SQL. This role would be perfect for someone that wants to gain experience within the financial markets world as we are not looking for previous industry experience.
The Technology Service Owner for Traded Risk Technology is a vital role aimed at leading engineering and technological innovation within the traded risk domain of our financial services organization. This position demands deep engineering expertise, including proficiency in Java or C#, and good understanding on SQL/Stored Procedures, as well as a comprehensive understanding of automation, application management in production environments. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership abilities, including adeptness in managing remote teams and fostering an inclusive, diverse, and cooperative team culture. Strong commercial acumen and superior stakeholder management skills are essential, ensuring that technology strategies effectively support traded risk business objectives. A significant emphasis is placed on agile practices and delivery model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering and Technical Leadership: Lead with a deep knowledge of Java or C# and good understanding on SQL
- Automation and Production Oversight: Champion automation across the traded risk technology lifecycle, applying technical skills to enhance system efficiency and reliability. Guarantee that traded risk applications in production meet high performance and availability standards.
- Agile Leadership: Guiding remote teams in agile methodologies, ensuring clear communication, high engagement, and productivity, while cultivating an environment of continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Management: Excel in establishing robust relationships with stakeholders, clearly conveying traded risk technology strategies, and ensuring they align with the organization's broader objectives.

What do I need?
To be set up for success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Technical Mastery: Robust background in software engineering, with extensive hands-on experience in Java or C# and good experience with SQL.
- Automation Experience: Significant experience with automation tools and methodologies, particularly in deploying applications.
- Leadership and Team Development: Exposure to leadership capabilities, with experience in developing an inclusive, diverse, and innovative team environment focused on leading teams in agile practices, fostering teamwork, and driving projects to successful completion.
- Commercial and Stakeholder Management: Deep understanding of commercial principles relevant to budget management and stakeholder relations.
