About the Role

As a HR Advisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the People and Culture team. This temporary position involves providing expert generalist HR guidance as well as assisting with employee and industrial relations and ensuring compliance with organisational policies. Your contributions will help foster a positive and inclusive workplace, ultimately enhancing our capacity to serve the Melbourne community effectively.

Duties

As a HR Advisor you will be involved with:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for all employee-related queries, providing timely action, escalation, or triage as appropriate.
  • Partnering with the business to offer effective management support and advice on employee relations and operational issues.
  • Creating, implementing, and regularly updating HR policies while fostering constructive working relationships and information exchange across the organisation.
  • Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned units and staff members, including recruitment, talent retention, and performance management.
  • Collaborating with People and Culture Business Partners to address human resource issues, support recruitment strategies, and execute retention and development plans.
  • Leading ongoing improvement initiatives to streamline employee support, maintain uniform customer service, and achieve elevated stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Assisting in the research, design, and implementation of HR projects, including employee engagement surveys, diversity, equity, and inclusion campaigns, and other strategic initiatives.

Skills & Experience

You must have:

  • 2-3 years' experience in HR, with exposure to generalist roles and relevant employment legislation.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and proven experience in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, demonstrating sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to draft compliant policies and procedures and provide clear, effective verbal communication.
  • Proven experience in managing change and multiple projects concurrently, along with strong research, analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills to plan, prioritise, and manage work schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and projects are completed efficiently.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining relationships with managers and employees, offering effective listening and coaching skills to support staff development and performance.

Please note this is a temporary role for 6 months so you must have the ability to work for the full contract length.
