ABOUT THE ROLE

Barker College is currently seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Temporary Junior School Specialist Teacher – PDHPE (PK to Year 6) located at the Hornsby Campus.

This will be temporary, full-time (1.0FTE) teaching role for Term 2 2024 (29 April 2024 to 28 June 2024) to provide cover for a period of leave.

The successful applicant will be an outstanding educator with skills and experience in student assessment and program planning to support a diversity of learners. They will have a passion for teaching PDHPE. 
The School is an authorised International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) World School offering the Primary Years Program with a focus on Inquiry Learning from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6.  Specialist Subject Teachers are expected to support the implementation of inquiry pedagogy and experience in this area would be an advantage.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a track record of:
• Working and contributing to a team
• An ability to deliver engaging lessons
• An ability to plan and implement an integrated curriculum;
• An understanding of inquiry learning and its relationship to syllabus documents;
• Confidence and competence in the use of ICT in teaching and learning;
• An enthusiasm for continued professional learning.

All teaching staff participate in the School’s extensive Pastoral Care and co-curricular programs.  The ability to coach team sports is highly desirable.

  • Barker College will require all Teaching Staff to provide evidence of their Tertiary Qualifications and have an understanding of and experience in relevant NESA syllabus documents and teacher accreditation requirements.
