Parndana Campus is one of the 3 campuses of the Kangaroo Island Community Education (KICE) School, on Kangaroo Island. It is a small Preschool to Y10 Campus with a strong community focus. This position is a combination of 0.6 Preschool - teaching in a purpose-built onsite preschool at Parndana Campus. Current enrolment (and that at mid year) is 16 children.
The preschool was built in 2016 and is a wonderful space with several specifically designed play and learning areas both inside and out. Outside, the preschool enjoys a separate enclosed nature-based play area.
The other part of this teaching combination is 0.4 in the Primary section of the campus - teaching one day in the Year 2/3 class and one day in the Year 4 class. Year2/3 has 21 students and Year 4 has 16 students. In both classes the teacher will negotiate which subjects they will take ownership of in addition to teaching the literacy block, which is an integral part of our School Improvement Plan (SIP) where the goal is focussed on Reading Improvement. Fraction of time and hours can be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participating in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting of care and education programs
- Support the involvement of families and the local community in the operation and management of the centre
- Working independently and collaboratively with teaching staff in centre strategic planning and review processes
- Provide basic physical and emotional care for students such as toileting, meals and lifting.
- Contribute to the care, general well-being, and safety of all students by monitoring student behaviour and taking appropriate action
What you will need to be successful in the role:
- Must have, an approved diploma level education and care qualification (approved qualifications published on the ACECQA website)
- Current approved first aid qualification, anaphylaxis, and emergency management training (refer to the ACECQA website for lists of approved qualifications)
- Experience in working with children aged 0-12 in education and/or care setting
