The Opportunity
Great Southern Community Legal Services (GSCLS) is seeking a Tenant & Housing Advocate to join our Legal & Advocacy team. This role provides education and advocacy around tenants’ rights for people in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, working to ensure a fairer and more just community.

In collaboration with local partners, we strive to break down barriers to justice across our region.
Key Responsibilities
The Tenant & Housing Advocate will:
- Provide advice to clients on tenancy issues, rights, and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with GSCLS colleagues and sector partners to deliver trauma-informed, effective services.
- Empower clients to self-advocate through offering ongoing support and information.
- Where needed, advocate for tenants in Courts and to other people.
- Conduct educational sessions on tenants' rights to improve community awareness and support.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong commitment to social justice.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse clientele.
- Team-oriented mindset with a capacity for collaborative problem-solving.
- Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
In addition, the following skills and experiences will be highly regarded:
- Experience in advocacy and/or community services.
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act
Days and Hours
The role is a part time position, between 19 and 30 hours per week. The roster for this position is flexible, and will be agreed with the successful candidate after recruitment.
