Your Opportunity

As the Product Lead, you will:

  • lead and manage all activities in allocated product portfolios to ensure consistency with organisational strategy, and the achievement of key priorities and initiatives.
  • lead and provide direction across all aspects of the TAFE Queensland Product Lifecycle, including the development of effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders, including industry, employers, regional and corporate teams; and
  • demonstrate well developed management skills with the ability to produce collaborative plans, deliver outputs, research and develop innovative strategies and solutions that mitigate risks and lead the achievement of product related objectives.

This position is assigned the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality and Personal Services and is a permanent, full-time role. It will be based primarily at South Bank however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.  

It reports direct to the Executive Director, Educational and Training, TAFE Queensland Brisbane.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative. 
  • Lead and manage the Product Portfolio activities across multiple TAFE Queensland regions, fostering a team culture that values excellence in customer experience, financial performance and continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services to internal and external clients.
  • Provide leadership, advice and guidance to the TAFE Queensland governance board, executive, committees, projects, regions and staff on product acquisition, development, investment, divestment and management of product lifecycle activities.
  • Lead the development of Product Priority Plans, the efficient and timely transition of training package changes or updates, and the establishment of master product across the relevant Product Portfolio to position TAFE Queensland in the market as the leading provider of training across all Queensland regions and markets beyond.
  • Undertake productive stakeholder engagement through:
    • liaising and building effective and mutually beneficial working relationships with external and internal stakeholders, including the effective management of Professional Learning Communities to drive the outcomes of the TAFE Queensland Product Strategy; and
    • engaging with and/or representing TAFE Queensland in consultative processes with industry such as Industry Reference Committees and Skills Service Organisations’ projects, Peak Bodies, Business and Employers.
  • Provide recommendations, information and intelligence to support the establishment of consistent product, pricing, promotion and placement for TAFE Queensland which aligns with TAFE Queensland’s competitive positioning and brand strategy.
  • Embed a commercial approach to Master and Secondary Product management including the coordination and purchase of state-wide licenses/agreements working in collaboration with regional staff, Learning Services, One Product Development Unit (OPDU), TAFE Queensland Library Network, Legal Counsel and Procurement.
  • Actively seek and capitalise on opportunities for continuous improvement, including:
    • leading the state-based registration and quality control, including validation and review activities, in the production and continuous improvement of TAFE Queensland Master Product by ensuring it is fit for purpose, is consistent and meets Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) 2015 and TAFE Queensland policies and procedures; and
    • establishing and fostering a positive culture of innovation, development, support and continuous improvement within the product portfolio and related communities of practice.
  • Positively promote regional engagement in product quality control and review strategies, maintaining professional relationships with all stakeholders including Professional Learning Communities, educators and managers for sustainable management of quality product outcomes for TAFE Queensland.
  • Execute high level project leadership to manage the end-to-end delivery of quality product, including highly developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills to gather and compile information, develop reports and make evidence-based decisions and recommendations.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Superior knowledge of the TAFE Queensland strategic agenda and key education/training issues as evidenced by the ability to contribute to, and support the setting of, operational direction which results in high quality product, efficient practices and commercial advantages, within a large organisation.
  2. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, meet externally imposed deadlines and bring projects to completion either independently or as a member of a team.
  3. Provides high level and supportive leadership that rewards excellence, encourages creativity and innovation and maximises workforce capability within a challenging and changing environment.
  4. Demonstrated high-level ability to research and analyse complex issues and to provide timely relevant advice on operational matters, including the ability to prepare quality and timely reports, submissions and briefings of a complex, sensitive and substantial nature.
  5. Proven interpersonal, negotiation, consultation and liaison skills with the demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships with, and constructively influence, a wide variety of key stakeholders, often with competing priorities.
